I've defined my style statement as "Classic Pretty." In the first Style Statement Tuesday post, I said this:
I love feminine, simple, timeless pieces. I like anything that makes me feel "pretty." I don't get carried away with trends and I lean towards pieces that will always be wearable.
While all that is true, I think I've always been a little uncomfortable with the "pretty" part of my style statement. I do love to feel and look pretty, but pretty isn't necessarily my first concern. I tend to gravitate towards more casual or effortless pieces first. For example, this skirt:
It's beautiful. I love it. It screams femininity, but I don't know where or what occasion I would ever wear it. That gorgeous item of clothing would hang in my closet waiting for the perfect event that would never come. It would die a death far worse that it deserves.
I'm just much more practical and casual when it comes to my clothes. I'll never be as put together as
Rach or as effortlessly chic as
Kendi. I'd like to think of myself as a dolled-up beauty queen, but that's just not who I am. The proof is in the pictures.
So I'm redefining my style statement from "Classic Pretty" to "Classic Casual." What do you think?
