How to: Budget Beauty Products

I'm all about saving money. Not really saving money, but saving money on things so I can buy more things. That makes sense, right? So when it comes to beauty products, if I can get a quality item at the drugstore you can bet your biscuit I'm going to snatch that sucker up and pocket the money I saved by not shopping at Sephora. What budget drugstore items do I love? Well I'm glad you asked...
Best Drugstore Finds
Aquaphor Healing Ointment - Ointment is a gross word, but this is some good stuff, y'all. It moisturizes in a way that I desperately need during these winter months.

Garnier BB Cream - I have mentioned my love for Garnier BB Cream before, but it is worth mentioning again. It seriously changed my life. It has way better coverage than most BB creams, but it still gives me a natural look.

Vaseline Rosy Lips - How you not love this? Extra points for it being in the teeny tiny tub that is so darn cute. I sadly could not find a link to purchase this product, except for Amazon. I hope that doesn't mean it has been discontinued!

Neutrogena Naturals Facial Cleanser - There is something about the Neutrogena brand that I trust without question. I have never once had an issue with any Neutrogena product irritating my skin. I love the Naturals line because it feels like I'm putting less chemicals on skin and eliminating their absorption into my body.

Suave Keratin Dry Shampoo - This is another product that single handedly changed my life. I swear  it works better than any "high dollar" dry shampoo those girls that Sephora push. Excuse me, ma'am, but I've got a $3 bottle that works just fine, honey.

Maybelline The Rocket Mascara - Love this mascara. It gives great volume without the clump. However, I will say I cannot use it on my lower lashes. The pigments fall under my eyes, and I look like I serious dark circles. But it is absolutely perfect on my upper lashes!

Loreal Colour Riche Balm - My mom bought  me a tube of this in December, and it is seriously almost gone. It feels like a balm, gives shine like a gloss, and comes in colors of lipstick. I'm using Nourishing Nude right now, but I definitely plan on getting other colors.

Yes to Blueberries Eye Treatment - The Yes To line has tons of great products. I like this eye treatment because it's rich in antioxidants. It smells great, too. Not at all chemically like some eye products I've used in the past.

Johnson's Vanilla Oatmeal Wash - I started using this body wash a couple of months ago, and I really like it a lot. It smells great, and it leaves my skin feeling so soft. I always think baby products are so much gentler on the skin and tend to lean towards them for products that go all over my body.

Sinful Colors Nail Polish - The $1.99 price tag on this polish caught my eye a few years ago. I've never really turned back. I've mentioned them on here before, and everything I said them still stands. The colors are great and last just as long as more expensive polishes.

There you have it. My favorite budget items at the drugstore. And no one paid me to say this. I really do love these products! What are your favorite drugstore finds?

Valentine's Gift Guide: For Him

What on earth do you get your guy for Valentine's Day? I ask myself this question every.single.year. Kris and I normally do a "cheesy" Valentine's Day, but still I wish that just once I could think of something to get him that he would really really like. Here are a few of my ideas...

For Him

Burberry Watch - perfect if you're a big spender or if your guy is a labels man

New Balance Shoes - I love these. I think they're super cute, and I'm always telling Kris he needs new tennies

Spring Training Tickets - Weekend Trip + Warm Weather + A Happy Man = Win Win

Manly Soap - Something about these scream man's man to me. I kind of dig it.

Heart Socks - Get into the holiday and give him heart socks. Why not?

"I Love You" Collar Stays - Kris loses the plastic collar stays constantly, or maybe I accidentally throw them away? Surely these metal ones wouldn't get lost.

Velvet Devil Merlot - Y'all this is some good wine. We went to the tasting room on our WA trip.

Cupid Boxers - You already got the socks, go ahead and spring for the boxers.

Mix It: Flannel Shirt

I have found myself wearing flannel shirts a lot these days. Maybe it's because it's been balls cold or maybe it's because there's something about flannel I find oddly chic. Either way, this flannel top is the best $25 I've spent in awhile. Today, I have the pleasure of co-hosting Mix It Mondays with Lauren at Fizz & Frosting to show you different ways I wear my flannel.

Mix It: Wedge Booties

My black suede wedge booties have become my go-to shoes. I bought them in early 2013, and it was the best money I spent in awhile. Seriously, I wear them with everything. Take a look at some of the great ways you can mix it up with your wedge booties. I'm also linking up with Lauren & Lauren!

Mix it: Booties

1. Pair them with a dress and tights for a work look.

2. Boyfriend jeans, a flannel shirt and puffer vest are perfect for cold weekends.

3. Skinny black pants and chunky sweater work great for casual Friday.

Want a little something extra? Choose booties in a cool color for a pop to any outfit.

Here are couple of ways I've worn my black booties:

What to Wear: Winter Wedding

It can be difficult knowing what to wear to a winter wedding. And by difficult I mean figuring out how to not freeze your buns off without sacrificing style! )Is it just me, or are most sleeved dressed old ladyish?) I've had a couple of cold weather weddings to attend this year, so here are a few of my tips for you.

Winter Wedding

1. Try sleeves and texture. If you're not a huge fan of dresses with sleeves, try ones with texture to make it feel more special and occasional. Lace dresses are everywhere right now and are a great option. Pair a textured dress with simple jewelry and shoes. The dress should be the statement.

2. Wear a great color. A sleeved dress can go from drab to fab by changing the color. Channel Kate Middleton by wearing blue, or give a nod to the color of the year by wearing a shade of orchid. Add a great gold necklace and pumps for the perfect finish.

3. Throw on a fur, faux, of course! Adding a faux fur cape or stole will keep your shoulders warm and give you a touch of Hollywood glam. I'd suggest pairing the fur with dresses that have a little extra detail, like the ones above. A pearl necklace or earrings with strappy metallic shoes will complete the look.

There you have it, my tips on what to wear to a winter wedding. Let me know what you think!
